Adoption fees are not expensive, and vary from shelter to shelter.

Also keep in mind that there are services set up for transporting dogs and puppies that are up for adoption to people that are in different states for a reasonable fee.

I'd check the local animal shelter and if no luck there, search for an aussie rescue in your area… they can pair you up with a dog.

Try petfinder.com and adoption fees are different everywhere with different terms that apply.

Aussies have shown up in a lot of shelters. Just keep checking, you might find one in need of a home there.

If you're interested in a dog but live too far away, you may be able to arrange transportation (Google "dog rescue transportation").

Each rescue has it's own adoption price. Thanks for taking the adoption option!

If cost is a concern forget it. Get a fish. Dogs get sick, need an MRI, and its a grand, remember that. Also Aussies are extremely high drive dogs, if you don't know what 'high drive' means, forget the dog.

ha! 85… to adopt a good, pure bred Aussie from a breeder with a good line its going to be $600-$800 at the very minimum, depending on if you get a tri or a merle, female or male matters too with many breeders. Do not consider getting an Aussie if you can't run it or otherwise exercise it, give it unending attention, and give it some sort of job to do. They will get restless and the energy that would normally be constructive to learning most any task you can think of teaching her will go towards destroying anything she can get her paws on. If you still want, and can handle, and Aussie, check the Aussie rescue group's website. http://www.aussierescue.org/

    Please consider http://www.aussierescue.org or http://www.miniaussierescue.org

I got my first aussie from a pet store. He was sick and had been there for 3 months and there were going to send him back to god knows where. So he was on sale for half price which was a whopping $600. He is the best dog in the world, but has some health issue due to being a puppy mill dog.

So when we got our second aussie, because they are so great you can't have just one, we went with an aussie rescue. Our rescue pup had been dropped off at a vet and tied to their door one night. She was heartworm positive. But she came through that and is now a super healthy happy aussie. It was a $200 adoption fee for the rescue place. Her fee was higher because of the heartworm treatment.

But please don't support puppy mills or backyard breeders. Adopt a dog in need and you'll always feel good for saving that dogs life.
