are australian shepherds good dogs smart and all that?
They are wonderful dogs, high energy, very smart. The one I had was used to herd goats. I could just say go and she would go bring them to the barn. Even if I just pointed she knew what to do. She could load the most stubborn hog into a loading pen and then into the truck. She was a terrific dog.

yes, extremely
but any dog can be if they have the right trainer/owner.
i love my sisters aussie shep to death.

Aussies are very smart dog but whether a dog is "good" or "bad" depends on whether you're a good or bad dog owner.

They are smart and the ones I've met were great dogs. BUT, the ones I met had owners who invested time into proper obedience training as well.

Sometimes too smart for their own good. Like, if you don't give this dog something to do, he'll find something to do…get it?

Definitely smart!!! But, these dogs are working dogs. So, without lots of exercise, and something to do to occupy them they are easily bored. They can be a handful. But they are loving, loyal, sweet dogs!

I seriously think they have the potential to take over the world! They are frighteningly smart dogs who need loads of attention, stimulation, training and exercise (as working dogs they can run over 200km in a day!)
They are also really beautiful and very loyal – great pet if you have the time and space to take care of them.

Smart – oh yeah, and quite manipulative too. Mine picks up on human behavior – laughing, smiling, sad face, busy, playing, reading, whatever is going on, and tends to mimoc that action or feeling. On the other hand, if what you are doing does not include her, whe will charm you out of your last dollar and spend it!
Keep them busy. Give clear boundries. Let them know what is good and acceptable behavior and who is the boss in the household (it is not the dog, by the way).

I have 2 Aussies. They are a real trip! I love them both to death. Great, loyal dogs. My male is my right hand man. He goes everywhere I go. He's at my feet as I type.
Give clear boundaries. You are the Alpha and they need to know that from the get-go. They need activity. They may not be the best choice with little kids as they try to herd them…that's what Aussie's do!
They know your routine so well they can meet you where you were about to go!
I'm sold on this breed…will never have another breed.
