    is this kennel in …
is this kennel in poland – if so, there standards differ than the american. I have an american aussie and would like my next aussie to have a tail – I just like the look of the tails that i have seen on aussies and will never work the dog beyond a hard days work chasing a tennis ball or frisbee

    I like the tails …
I like the tails docked! If you call them Aussies, that is breed standard, not only that but the reasoning is for a ranch working dog, it is for their own safety! I looked info the “cruelty” of this myself before i got an aussie, and it is safe as can be…if you have a reputable breeder..that makes the difference. cute puppies regardless

    One can’t have have …
One can’t have have more than one interest?

Fine. If they aren’t pure bred, then they are doofy looking aussies.

  17. NiknSaf on November 28th, 2008 1:34 pm

    Haahah.

    They …
    Haahah.

They aren’t pure? You can’t judge that.
You obviously don’t know anything about them,
‘musicaltheatrejunky’- get back to your musical theatre?

    Oh! FINALLY!! I …
Oh! FINALLY!! I found a breeder who doesnt dock their pups’ tails! I am so happy! Our soon-to-be Aussie’s mom was bred yesterday, and I requested that she not dock our puppy’s tail when he or she is born :D I am looking to get either a red merle or a black tri female, but if I get a red merle or black tri male I’ll be happy too :D

    cute definition of …
cute definition of pure bred ;)
I’m sorry, I’m not trying to be mean. I just know the FCI definition of australian shepherds. And I have all the documents confirming that.

  20. musicaltheatrejunky on November 28th, 2008 1:34 pm

    those are NOT pure …
those are NOT pure bred. Sorry.

They are adorable, yes. Pure bred.. no.

It has nothing to do with their tails. It’s their coloring and pattern that are off. I like it though. They are cute.

  23. aquilonis on November 28th, 2008 1:34 pm

    “they are not …
“they are not tottaly purebreds” Oh yes, they are. Their father is ARES of Secret Key (after WAR DRUM of Imagineer) and their mother is Gearhart’s FIRE OVER PACIFIC (Mistrettas and Gearharts). Eyes and hips clear, Pedigree etc.

  24. aquilonis on November 28th, 2008 1:34 pm

    great arguments..

    great arguments..

“I have books about them” so what? I have books about sailing. Does it make me an expert in sailing?
    “I have 2″ I have 4
“If you don’t want to put them in shows” actually in Europe it’s forbidden to dock tails so it would be illegal in many countries to show them like that.

  25. aquilonis on November 28th, 2008 1:34 pm

    sorry to disappoint …
sorry to disappoint you, but those are pure bred aussies.

  26. RedRosaria on July 11th, 2010 6:15 am

can australian shepherd leave in hot countries??

  27. sherry on August 3rd, 2010 4:07 pm

RedRosaria – I’ve had aussies most of my life.
They do just fine in the heat (i’m in Alabama) – with adequate water/shade/rest of course.

My current Aussie is a queen though. She is an apartment dog and prefers to lay up on the leather couch watching TV with the A/C on 75. She’s acclimated to the A/C and don’t much care for the heat. Can’t stand it actually. She’ll stand at the door waiting to go in when the whole family is outside – highly unusual for an Aussie. She’ll stand at the door and look at us like we’re a bunch of idiots for not coming inside in the cool.
