The herding dogs need alot of excercise and mental stimulation, so you must keep the dog active and busy. if this lifestyle doesnt suit you then pick a breed that works best for your situation

these dogs are very intelligent and independent thinkers. they are high energy and require lots of exercise to prevent destructive behavior. they do make wonderful pets to the right people.

They are cool dogs but they do need a lot of exercise. They are also quite smart which can have some disadvantages. Sometimes if you are running with them they may start trying to "herd" you, they may also do this if someone wanders away from a group of people that it is with. If you take the time to train it well you will have an awesome dog.

i have an Aussie and he is very energetic and needs alot of attention. He is really good with kids. The biggest problem i noticed is the shedding. I have to keep him well groomed or hair is everywhere.

    They can be funny!!!

I think they are great but can be nippy but not in any aggressive way. I have two shepherds and cattle dog in thehouse now and they all love to give kisses but sometimes their teeth get in the way. They have excellant hearing and will let you know if anything strange is going on around the property. My own is so good that we always told him to be quiet he would look at us and we would eventually find he had reason to bark.

My first was my only dog at the time and that was rough. He had been found in the woods as an itty bitty boy and the people that found him realized they didn't want him once he was about 6 months. I took him got him vetted and thought no big deal. They must be crated until they mature!!! I lived in an apartment and did take him to the dog park but that usually wasn't enough. We played fetch down the hallway. I was still in the apartment when someone took on two rott golden mixes and I took one of them same situation always cute till they teeth and function. Well I finally had to buy a house with a yard for the little one not the rotti golden.

Aussies will run circles around you. They are hilarious!!!

Have fun. The one I have for adoption is a riot and wants to play all the time.
